I found the MSPUB.exe file, but I don't think it's what I need, because she
has since installed a trial version of Publisher 2007. This exe file is
probably for that.
Also, looking at the date-last-modified doesn't really relate to the version
of Publisher. If, say, Publisher 98 was installed, a document created with
it could still have a 2008 modified date. How would that be useful
information?
