For my employment I need to use a digital ID in order to send my
work to my contractor (boss) encrypted securely.

Over about the past month or more I started getting emails that simply had
nothing in them and attachments which simply have "smime.7pm" . When I
click on this file to open it I get a file to open which then gives me an
error message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for
performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options Control
Panel".
I have just now received anohter email from my boss with patient files that
I need to open and view and I am absolutely unable to do so. I saved it to
my desktop and it tells me: "To open this file, Windows needs to know what
program created it." I go to the windows and see all of the websites and
downloads for "smime.7pm". I download them but then they won't run 'until
you purchase them'! I am not interested in purchasing any of those
programs.
I have been working with the digitial ID company for several days and they
have deemed everything is in perfect working order and have referred me on to
Microsoft who sent me an email and said check technical help which I clicked
on and there are charges - or this discussion group.
I also have below an option to 'Save Attachments" which I have tried by
saving to my Desktop or My Documents and a couple of times was able to open
the file.

Anybody out there with an information about smime.7pm and how to "correct"
that in Outlook Express ?
