I wish mozilla.org would explain how this works. Instead, all I can
find on the mozilla.org site is how to disable it (like the article
above). I have AVG installed. I do not run it in background (only on
demand), so what I'm trying to find out is, when download manager says
scanning ..... what is it doing .... if anything?
Why isn't this easy information to find?

.... It appears to me (I have other issues as well) that with FF3,
Mozilla has become so obsessed with security concerns that it has lost
site of its original goals. It is no longer the simple, yet flexible,
standards compliant browser it was intended to be. It will soon rival IE.
