Well, when you package for CD in 2007, PPT converts the file to a
97-2003-format file so it can run from the CD. This is because the
compatibility pack won't run from the CD. And since the compat pack is
necessary for the Viewer to open 2007-format files, the PPT Viewer on the CD
needs that older-format file.
I know, I know. Don't shoot the messenger.
So I'm guessing the problematic stuff is related to the conversion. For
example, SmartArt is converted to an image in the 97-2003 format, so it
won't animate in the Viewer.
Can you give us some specifics as to what has changed? We may be able to
offer you some "best practices" or workarounds when designing specifically
for a CD.
Or it could be just some old bugs that are coming to light now. I know there
were a couple that tend to show up when the 2007 package for CD is used, but
I couldn't tell you what they are specifically, sorry. Round-tripping
through HTML in an older version before opening in 2007 often clears them
out. (Again, don't shoot the messenger. I think it's a stupid excuse, too.)
