To enable Recent Documents On Start Menu by manually editing the registry: 1. Choose Start > Run and type Regedit into the Open field. Click OK. 2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Policies/Explorer 3. Double-click NoRecentDocsMenu 4. Change the specified Value data to 00 00 00 00 . 5. Click OK then close the Registry Editor. Solution 2: Open the file from the file menu within InDesign. (Windows) 1. Start InDesign. 2. Choose File > Open. 3. Navigate to a file, select it and click Open. Note: You may need to delete the InDesign Recovery folder before you attempt to open the file from the File menu in InDesign. The InDesign recovery folder is located, by default, in Documents and Settings/[username]/Application Data/Adobe/InDesign/Version 4.0/InDesign Recovery. You can delete the folder, rename the folder, or open the folder and delete the folder contents. InDesign creates a new recovery folder when you restart the application. Solution 3: Verify you have a release version of InDesign CS2 installed. To check the version hold down Control (Windows) or command (Mac OS) while you click About InDesign under the Help menu (Windows ) or the InDesign menu (Mac OS). The InDesign CS2 version should be (4.0.0.421) Background information You may see the error "InDesign has encountered a problem and needs to close... Details: AppName: indesign.exe ModName: document framework.rpln..." if you open a file created with the release version of InDesign CS or InDesign CS2 in a prerelease version of InDesign CS2. When you change the value of the registry key, either directly through the Registry Editor, using TweakUI, or with the Group Policy Editor, InDesign CS may crash when you try to open a file through Windows Explorer or Adobe Bridge.
