[Adaptec] DirectCD Issues
1. After multiple inserts and ejects, DirectCD-formatted media may not be recognized under Windows 2000/NT 4.0.
After repeatedly inserting and ejecting DirectCD-formatted CD-R/RW, Windows 2000 or NT 4.0 users may find that their discs are not recognized. In some cases, the OS will slow to a crawl. The problem was first discovered in DirectCD 3.03, depending upon the level of used physical memory size in the task manager. Roxio is trying to resolve the issue, which may be less common under DirectCD 3.05, in which the CD Eject dialogue is turned off. In the meantime, to fix the problem, first try ejecting and reinserting the disc, checking to see if the OS recognizes the disc. Otherwise, rebooting the system should do the trick.
2. Under Window Me/2000, user inserts a DirectCD disc, clicks on drive, and message states "CD is not ready".
In Windows Me and Windows 2000, a user may insert a DirectCD disc, click on the drive letter in the DirectCD drive selector box, and receive a "CD is not ready" message. Similarly, in Explorer, a user may insert a disc, click on the drive letter, and either receive an "insert CD" message or a "drive is not ready" message. These messages appear because it takes the system a few seconds to find the disc and read its contents. Once the OS reads the disc (again, only a few seconds), the message should disappear.
If the message does not disappear, the system may not be recognizing the CD. In this case, please refer to the FAQ entitled, "After multiple inserts and ejects, DirectCD-formatted media may not be recognized under Windows 2000/NT 4.0."
3. "CD Ejected!" dialogue in DirectCD 3.05 does not appear.
In DirectCD 3.05, the "CD Ejected!" dialogue was turned off, as a default.
