Greyed Out - Compare & Merge Workbooks Function

Excel 2003 on XP.

Regardless of how I try to get this to work, ie opening different files in
different sequences, this function is never available.
I have followed the Help on Merge Workbooks but it is still greyed out.

Any ideas anyone.
Many thanks
DeanH

Re: Greyed Out - Compare & Merge Workbooks Function

No, they are all on my hard drive. As the instructions specifiy they are in
the same folder.
I have never seen this function NOT greyed out.
Thanks

Re: Greyed Out - Compare & Merge Workbooks Function

The compare and merge workbooks is only available when the workbook is shared
under Tools>Share Workbook.

Maybe you were thinking of Window>Compare side by side with when you have two
workbooks open.
