Excel 2007 Won't open files

Hello,

when I try to open a file on Excel it just hangs, no error messages
and windows doesn't even tell me it stopped responding (it does say
'not responding' on the title bar). I notice it says "running virus
scan" I've turned of the virus scanner and it still won't open. It
worked well when I first installed it, So i did re-install. Still
won't open file. FYI, I have Vista, My computer meets the requirement,
Its Microsoft Office Excel 2007 (part of the office pack)

Thanks, Dez.

Re: Excel 2007 Won't open files

If you're double-clicking files to open them that is a very common problem
for which there is no universal solution. One workaround is to 'do
something' in Excel while the file is seemingly loading. Like opening the
Office menu and then escaping. Another is to open Excel first.

Jim:
Maybe the last sentence should be "Another is to open directly from Excel"
since to 'do something in Excel' must mean it is open (sorry for being a
pendant)

Yes I wasn't clear. It's really two ideas. Start Excel directly and then
either (1) double-click a file or (2) do a File, Open.
