Internet explorer is not accessing the replies to my posts
Hi.
I am finding this site great for a computer illiterate such as I. A problem I am having is that when I get an e-mail notice of a reply to a post, like this one, I click on the link and it brings up IE but only displays a blank page. I have to find my way back to the post the long way. Any suggestions? It would be so nice to be able to get answers by just clicking on the link in the e-mail! John |

Re: Internet explorer is not accessing the replies to my posts
Hi John,
By default IE treats links in email as though they come from a restricted security zone. Some security software will block addresses that are in the restricted security zone or which use port 80 (copy and paste the link from the email into the address bar of IE, if it loads then you will know that it is your security software that is blocking port 80). We need to know your OS version, what email program you are using and what security programs you are using in order to give a more specific answer. Regards. John
Not many responders may be familiar with the slow and quirky web interface you are using. I don't use it myself and I really don't know what you mean by "get answers by just clicking on the link in the e-mail!" You may get a pleasant surprise if you read newsgroups with a proper newsreader. Re: Internet explorer is not accessing the replies to my posts
Thanks Rob. I turned off my McAffee and now it will load the page fine.
I'll just have to play with it to find out how to make this site acceptable. Just in case you are still wondering, I am running Windows XP home edition and my e-mail is outlook express. Thanks again. Re: Internet explorer is not accessing the replies to my posts
Thanks for trying. Your response is mostly greek to me. Rob got me on the
right track with the security blocking the link. John "Alan Edwards" wrote: > John > > Not many responders may be familiar with the slow and quirky web > interface you are using. Re: Internet explorer is not accessing the replies to my posts
Thanks. Unfortunately, Alan's reply was mostly greek to me but Rob got me on
the right track. My McAfee was blocking the link.
