red crosses in white boxes

I'm new to broadband (previously dialup which worked fine but painfully slow)
and this prob must have come up many times so apols if it did, and more apols
if it's just me being thick !

I signed up to aol broadband, and I now find that when using internet
explorer 7 some sites don't display pictures but others do. In a few sites
where drop down box gives pages within the site to list items for sale along
with pictures, the picture fails to display and is just a red cross in white
box. If I go in through aol's own broadband connection, however, the pics
load OK, but I prefer the IE connection.

I've tried ticking all the necessary options on Internet Options advanced,
and all the usual tricks suggested by various helplines but makes no
difference, and it's only on certain sites - most are fine but ones such as
diy.com just don't load the pics.

Do I need to reinstall IE7 or is there something obvious I'm not doing?

Thanks

Re: red crosses in white boxes

Many thanks for quick reply - already tried the first option so I'll work
through the rest.

Re: red crosses in white boxes

Thanks for your help - tried the options but still doesn't work.

I'm running windows XP home - problem is that if I go into the site using
my old dial up connection, using internet explorer, all the pics come up
fine, and if I use AOL's browser on broadband they come up fine too, but if I
use IE7 on broadband connection they don't, although it is only certain sites
this happens on.

Logic suggests therefore that IE7 doesn't like my broadband connection. How
safe would it be to re-install IE7 ?

Uninstall IE7 then tell me if the problem persists in IE6, Brian.

Uninstalling IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6)

Re: red crosses in white boxes

A while back I experienced the same problem for one miserable week. Posted
problem here and went through all the suggested work outs. Nothing worked.
After that week I went away for a month and PC was off for that time. When I
came back the problem had evaporated. Was it an ISP broadband temporary
corrupt signal? No problem since.
