Hostile takeover
I'm sure it is something small I've missed but what is causing my IE7 to pop
up over any other program I'm using. I am typing this into a new browser page right now and the original browser page keeps opening over this one every 45 seconds or so. Is there some refresh field I have to un-check? Really annoying. |

Re: Hostile takeover
Hi OffWorld,
Does this happen when you run IE7 in no-Addons mode? Start>(All) Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Internet Explorer (no Addons). Check you toolbar and Addon vendors for the latest versions of their software. Most problems with IE are caused by incompatible Addons. At a guess I would bet on Yahoo Messenger? If there are no updates available you can disable Addons using the Addons Manager or uninstall them from the Add/Remove Programs applet. Regards. Re: Hostile takeover
Now, no add-ons set. And no Yahoo Messenger ever. I actually hear a small
click somewhere, maybe in my tower, when the browser switches. I am also hearing a Windows sound (two quick tones in succession) every 30 seconds or so, but don't know if it is connected to the problem. Just don't visit that site. You could try minimizing the IE window before switching away from it but depending on what it is doing it might still reopen. Loading about:Blank over that page would be another way to avoid the symptom. > Really annoying. Post a publicly accessible link if you need help analysing a specific case. Good luck Robert Aldwinckle --- |

Re: Hostile takeover
Hi,
The click sounds are probably the IE Popup blocker. Set your tabbed browsing preferences to "Let Internet Explorer decide how pop-ups should open" When a pop-up is encountered. Tools>Internet Options - General tab, Tabs Settings button. Regards.
