www.discovercard.com
For the last week I have been not able to connect to www.discovercard.com
through IE. I can connect to all other websites I try. I get a message when I run the connect diagnostic that the site is online and my firewall is configured correctly but that there may be another firewall somewhere blocking it. I tried it with both IE7 and IE8. |

Re: www.discovercard.com
The IP address for this site is 199.38.149.1. I added it to my trusted site
list. Still can't connect. When I run "Diagnose connection problems" I get a message that says the site is online, my firewall is configured correctly, but a remote firewall may exist between the two computers. Re: www.discovercard.com
What firewall, anti-virus application or security suite is installed? There
are some that cause problems which do not appear immediately. Re: www.discovercard.com
I'm running McAfee Security Center. Same for the past year and no problems.
Normal updates. The problem started after the last updates MS laid on us last week. Checking some of the newsgroups it seems like others are having similar problems with other sites. One I saw that couldn't be pulled up is nbc.com. I don't have a problem with that particular site. Re: www.discovercard.com
McAfee is known to cause many problems. Sometimes they don't show up
immediately. Replace McAfee with the free AVG http://free.grisoft.com/ or Avast http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html, and Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. Disabling McAfee is not enough. You need to completely uninstall it. Re: www.discovercard.com
I uninstalled McAfee and have been uninstalling all the latest windows
updates one-by-one. Still no solution to the can't connect to www.discovercard.com. I also used msconfig to turn off all startup programs. I'm running with the Windows firewall only now. Re: www.discovercard.com
Right-click on the IE shortcut icon and select the Start without add-ons
option. You can then manage which add-ons are enabled, in Tools | Manage Add-ons, after you've started IE7. If this solves your problem, enable add-ons one at a time, testing as you go, until you find the culprit. --------- [When responding to posts, please include the post(s) you are replying to so that others may learn and benefit from the issue] [How to ask a question] http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 "Ken Martin" <kennethrmartin@verizon.net> wrote in message news:43353355-9D64-4AEC-9574-CA88C4FD6964@microsoft.com... >I uninstalled McAfee and have been uninstalling all the latest windows >updates one-by-one.
