It's not like the Italians posting in the .it. newsgroup in their native language will have their posts magically translated when their replies are pushed over to the English newsgroup. If you don't speak Italian, Spanish, Russion, Japanese, or any non-English language then why are you posting in non-English newsgroups (and then rudely disconnecting the discussion with inappropriate use of the FollowUp-To header when *you* chose to crosspost to those other newsgroups)? |

Then why be rude by using the FollowUp-To header to disconnect the replies made in the .it. group? FollowUp-To is used by spammers and malcontents to hide negative replies to their posts. It has a use in the NANAE groups to keep the sightings separate of any discussion regarding those exhibits but it is rare when the FollowUp-To header is appropriate anywhere else. If a post was sufficiently related or on-topic to all of the cross-posted newsgroups then the continued discussion is just as related in those other newsgroups. It is rude to yank away the discussion because you happen to have a favorite "home" group that you like to visit (although the cross-posting that includes your home group would still let you see the thread in your home group without having to visit the other groups). If the continuation of the discussion is inappropriate in the other newsgroups then it was also inappropriate to cross-post to those other newsgroups, and it is more insulting to then yank away the discussion by using FollowUp-To. Cross-posting to other newsgroups and then using FollowUp-To means you self-nominated your post as inappropriate on those other newsgroups. If you use the FollowUp-To header then you should not have cross-posted to the other newsgroups in the first place. If the continued discussion is inappropriate in the other newsgroups then your first post was also inappropriate. Since [I'm assuming that] Russo isn't a malcontent or spammer, it seemed odd that he would even employ the FollowUp-To header to be be rude to the .it. visitors that may not visit the other newsgroups to watch any continued discussion. |
