IE7 and SiteAdvisor
I think that this is an IE7 issue rather than a McAfee issue; but I'm not
sure. So, apologies if I erroneously posted this in the wrong place. I have installed McAfee SiteAdvisor on my XP2 machine at work. It works fine on Firefox 2. It seems to prevent IE7 from deleting browser history, etc., though. Those things just hang when I try to accomplish them with SiteAdvisor installed. Once I uninstall SiteAdvisor, though, all works fine in this regard. The reason that I'm thinking it is an IE issue is because SiteAdvisor works fine in Firefox. I'd be happy to know either what's happening in IE (and how to fix it) or a thought as to what's going wrong with SiteAdvisor. Of course, I'd be most happy if any of you have experienced the same scenario and discovered a reason and a fix. Thanks much! |

Re: IE7 and SiteAdvisor
I think that it was a stand alone product. It installed in both IE and
Firefox. I may not have looked closely enough, but I didn't see any IE add ons for SiteAdvisor. When I uninstalled it I used Control Panel==>Add/Remove and it uninstalled it from both browsers. The link on the home page at www.siteadvisor.com selects whichever version of its utility is appropriate for the browser that you used when you connected to that page. Apparently you connected using Firefox and then tried to install the Firefox version in both Firefox and IE. Even when you click on the Download link to get to their download page, it again checks which browser you are using and presents a download page for THAT browser. So, for example, clicking on Download to go to that page takes you to http://www.siteadvisor.com/download/ie.html. Notice the "ie" in the URL. Stupidly they do NOT provide download links so you can get both the IE and FireFox versions regardless of which browser you used to connect their web site. So use the browser into which you intend to install their software when visiting their site. |

Did you download the version of SiteAdvisor for Internet Explorer or did
you download the version of SiteAdvisor for Firefox? --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est JTKirk wrote: > I think that this is an IE7 issue rather than a McAfee issue; but I'm > not sure.
