New Explorer 7 User...NO SECURITY TAB
There is NO security Tab under Tools...Internet Options on my newly
downloaded Explorer 7. Thus, I cannot "fix" or have automatically fixed, my "low-security" settings that pops up everytime I open Internet Explorer 7. Nice. Continued screwed up Microsoft Software. Never works right. Typical. -- Hobiecat ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. Re: New Explorer 7 User...NO SECURITY TAB
Let's leave aside for now the question of who is truly "screwed up".
Before installing IE 7 you need to carefully follow the pre-installation preparation described below. Otherwise you will probably end up with an incomplete or damaged installation. http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install. Uninstall IE 7 (which returns you to IE 6) by following these directions: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177 ....and... http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html Download the IE 7 installer directly from Microsoft and install from your hard disk: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dow.../getitnow.mspx If you followed the correct installation procedures and still have problems, they are most likely caused by an incompatible add-on. Start Internet Explorer from a shortcut on your desktop with the following target (don't forget the quote marks): "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff If the problem no longer occurs, one (or more) add-ons was causing the problem. A simpler solution is to reset IE 7 to its original configuration. Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab > under Reset Internet Explorer Settings, click Reset. If the problem no longer occurs, one (or more) incorrect configuration settings was causing the problem. [If you want to continue to use any of your add-ons after a reset, you may have to reinstall them.] Problems with IE 7 can also be caused by the presence of viruses or other malicious software. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est Cayce wrote: > There is NO security Tab under Tools...Internet Options on my newly > downloaded Explorer 7. > > Thus, I cannot "fix" or have automatically fixed, my "low-security" settings > that pops up everytime I open Internet Explorer 7. > > Nice. Re: New Explorer 7 User...NO SECURITY TAB
And your Suggestion would be...?
You may have a horked (dirty; bad; flawed) install of IE7. I suggest that you... 1. Uninstall IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6) EXACTLY per http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html [Only use the Command %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe if you cannot uninstall via Add/Remove Programs!] 2a. Uninstall all toolbars and third-party Windows Themes (including Window Blinds). 2b. Disable all Norton Add-ons, if applicable. 3. Reinstall IE7 EXACTLY per http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install <= Steps #1-8, #10 & #11; take note of #12, then STOP! NB: Use http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/default.mspx as the installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update. Or Direct Download link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...0-081805b2f90b Tip: Save the installer to your desktop, do not Run it. 4. IMMEDIATELY go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and install any critical updates offered. If a "Root Certificates" update is listed in the Optional category, you might install it, too, to take full advantage of IE7's additional security.
