Multiple websites will not come up.
When I bring up Internet Explorer, I have three tabs each with its own
default website. The first tab brings up the website just fine but the other two tabs will not bring up anything -- -- the page says that there is a connection problem. But then when I go through the first tab and try to put it in an address, it is not able to find it and I get the same page saying that the page is not available or a connection problem. This just started happening and I'm not sure why. Now I do have a program called webplay and it saves all my logins for the Web, but it did work before this. Thank you in advance |

Windows version?
Are you getting "Page cannot be displayed" errors? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Mike wrote: > When I bring up Internet Explorer, I have three tabs each with its own > default website. Re: Multiple websites will not come up.
Hi Mike,
Typing in www.webplay.com gets redirected to http://sprw.information.com/?epl=007...BSPl0CClIDBVVT (Even though the IE Address bar has http://www.webplay.com as the address, select the File>Properties menu to view the 'real' address) This may have recently happened if the original owners of webplay.com have not paid their web hosters or they have changed owners. It could be just a couple of days before the DNS (Directory Name Servers) are updated and your computer will be able to find the new address. (Try again in a few days) or your firewall may be blocking this new site. There may be a security setting (Tools>Internet Options - Security tab) that prevents re-directs, but I could not nail it down. It is recommended that you use the Default Security settings (Default button) and surf the web with a non-Administrator user account. I would be extremely suspicious of visiting sites that hide their true address. Perhaps it is prudent to change your homepage settings. I could not find a privacy report nor a SiteAdvisor report for this site. Regards. Thank > you > in advance Error message when you start Internet Explorer 7 or try to access a Web site: "Internet Explorer cannot display the Webpage" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926431 I can think of three other causes for the vast majority of such problems: 1. You might have incompatible add-ons: Go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools and click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). 2. Tools | Internet Options | Advanced Scroll to the bottom and click Reset Internet Explorer Settings. Read this article first: How to use Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 Note that the Reset IE Settings button will delete AutoComplete data (such as passwords.) Do you have those backed up? 3. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware All MS-MVP Sites. http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/darnit.html http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/Malware_Defence.htm Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827315 So How Did I Get Infected Anyway? For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus, whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you owe it to the author. See also: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=27971 Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure of.
