I'm getting the same error too Gmail doesn't redirect at all, and
Yahoo asks to change browser settings. It works fine in Firefox. I'm
using IE7 in Windows XP.

Are you going to gmail.com to sign in? If you used a link saved in your
browser that it used to login, it may not work.
Does it show loading bar?
Try signing in on google.com and then try accessing your mail.

With the warning that a reset will delete autocomplete data, such as
passwords and you will have to reinstall browser add-ons, work through this
