When starting XP home I get a dialogue box titled 'windows internet
explorer'. The text in the box is "-2146697208- the download of the specified
resource has failed".
Subsequently when I start IE7 I get a send error report box and explorer
shuts down. Does anybody have a reason for this please.

Malicious software such as viruses or spyware could be installed on your

You may have to be more precise in your symptom description... <eg>

What symptoms do you have then? E.g. capture the Error Signature.
Hint: doubleclick on a word and press Ctrl-a, Ctrl-c, etc.
