IE7 not displaying page Firefox does
Hi,
This is probably a simple setting that I am missing, and hopefully someone can tell me which one needs changed. We frequently go to the Safeway store's weekly ad. (http://shop.safeway.com/superstore/s...pStoreID=2221). We never used to have a problem loading the individual ads in IE7 until a month or more ago. When clicking on one of the ads now, it only brings up a blank page with Safeway's header on it, no nothing below it. Recently I installed Firefox just to see if it would load them. It does. My wife and daughter both have commented previously that there are occasional web pages that they visit that will not load, and my daughter had installed Firefox quite a while ago just so she could get into the pages IE7 could not. All 3 computers are running XP SP3 with current updates. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: IE7 not displaying page Firefox does
Don, thank you for your response. After starting IE without add-ons, the
Safeway ad loaded fine. I then restarted IE normally and disabled the add-ons that were on both computers one at a time. It turned out to be IE7Pro. I looked through the IE7Pro settings, and when I turned off the Ad Blocking feature, the Safeway ad loaded fine. Case solved! I have IE's ad-blocker enabled, which will have to do. Thank you for your help. Dale. Internet Explorer does not have an ad blocker. (It does have a pop-up
blocker.) IE7pro is not a Microsoft product. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est DCL wrote: > Don, thank you for your response. After starting IE without add-ons, the > Safeway ad loaded fine. Re: IE7 not displaying page Firefox does
Leonard, true and true.
The main reasons I use IE7Pro is for the menu at top fix, IE spell checker, and IE find features that integrate with IE7. The ad-blocker was just a bonus, which I can live without. I know that there are individual fixes and products that cover all 3 of these (the Menu at Top fix, Inline Search, and IESpell), but this combines them in one place. So, as long as IE7's pop-up blocker keeps most of the annoying pop-ups at bay, I am a happy camper. If ads that were being blocked by IE7Pro's ad blocker become too much of an irritation, there are other products that can deal with them, hopefully without killing pages like Safeway's. If I find more problems caused by IE7Pro, I can always switch back to the individual ones. Thanks, Dale. "Leonard Grey" wrote: > Internet Explorer does not have an ad blocker. You're welcome. Glad you got it resolved.

For nearly a decade I've used Proxomitron to filter web pages for undesirable behavior. Sadly, the author died some time ago but the program was in near perfect operating order by that time and the filters have been expanded greatly by some in its user community. One of Proxomitron's features is its reference to lists of acceptable and unacceptable web sites when applying certain filters. One can exclude web sites completely - similar to a HOSTS list - or one can exclude specific web sites from being filtered or even include/exclude specific web sites from specific filters. Proxomitron does not have a spell checker - though copy/paste from a text editor which does suffices for me. I mention this program, not because I'm suggesting anyone use or switch to it, merely that some of its inclusion/exclusion features may be present in whatever filtering software you are using. Even IE has an exclusion list, no? |
