IE6 Browser shutting down automatically

my browser windows in IE6 every now and again keep shutting down on its own.
Sometimes its when I first start up Yahoo I type something into
the search box and it immediately shuts down but then if I open up internet
explorer again immediately afterwards and type it into Yahoo again then it
stays open the second time.

I dont want to move to IE7 nor Firefox - I just want to stick with IE6 but
get to the bottom of this annoying problem. its doing it on 2 different PC's
I have here at the moment so its not just this one PC that has the problem.
Both are bang up to date with Virus checker with no viruses and all spyware
removed and Java and Flash Player up to date and XP SP3 loaded. anyone got
any ideas what is closing down the browser like this?

Thanks.

Andy.

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these
Web pages.
Help with malware:
All MS-MVP Sites.

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

I think I have traced it down to XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) that I downloaded
being the culprit - now I have gone back to SP2 everything seems to be a
lot better and the browser window is not shutting down like that at the
moment - strange.
