IE7 misbehaving after SP3 install--dwwin.exe error
SP3 installed automatically, then uninstalled automatically, last week
causing numerous troubles. I ended up installing SP3 myself because my computer wouldn't run properly after the automatic uninstall. IE7 performance was especially bad. I thought I had the trouble with IE7 fixed after I took care of an issue with Adobe software. Wrong. IE7 has started with the same troubles again. It is eating up memory and crashing. Sometimes, it simply will not load. Other times it loads, but then I get an error message--"dwwin.exe error Application failed to initialize properly at 0xc.0000142. Please click ok to close." I have always understood that this file relates to Dr. Watson. Not sure how to clean it up. One other error message that just showed itself was "iedw.exe error. [Note following was the same as above.] I also am starting to get messages stating: "Out of memory at line: 305 [numbers change frequently]" One trouble that had been cleaned up, but has now returned, is that when I'm running a Java app (such as a stock market ticker) in the background IE 7 becomes hopeless. It won't navigate to web pages and crashes without an error message. I have the latest version of Java loaded--I checked on the Sun site. It never did this before the SP3 install. What I have done in recent days is to reset IE7. That worked briefly. I have not uninstalled IE7. There is so much software installed that relates to IE7 that I'm afraid to uninstall it. My suspicion is that I would end up with more trouble than before. Also, I have loaded IE7 without add ons. It is no more stable that way than in add on mode. Has anyone else out there had this trouble? Any suggestions on how to fix it? |

RE: IE7 misbehaving after SP3 install--dwwin.exe error--running XP
Sorry, but I forgot to mention that I'm running a Dell with Intel processor
and Windows XP. SP3 installed about a week ago. "ldffly" wrote: > SP3 installed automatically, then uninstalled automatically, last week > causing numerous troubles. Re: IE7 misbehaving after SP3 install--dwwin.exe error--running XP
1. Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...spx?gprid=1173 | select "Windows XP" then select "Windows XP Service Pack 3" 2. Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827315 Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log to an appropriate forum. Checking for/Help with Hijackware http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=5878 http://wiki.castlecops.com/Malware_R...:_Introduction http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/data/prevention.htm http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/tshoot.html http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/Malware_Defence.htm http://defendingyourmachine2.blogspot.com/ http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2 (http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in conjuction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachi...php?board=10.0, http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22, http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or another appropriate forum for review by an expert in such matters, not here.** If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ ldffly wrote: > Sorry, but I forgot to mention that I'm running a Dell with Intel > processor > and Windows XP.
