IE7 windows resizes after shutdown or reboot

Every time I reboot my system, Microsoft Internet Explorer program comes up
in a small window that I must resize each time to my preference.

How can I get IE7 to open the way I want it to start out instead of this
small window that I must change every time after a reboot or shutdown?

I have uninstalled IE7 and reinstalled. I have used regedit to clear
windowplacement and oldWorkAreas and used the size menu. It still won't stay
to the last size after a shutdown or reboot.

Re: IE7 windows resizes after shutdown or reboot

Open such a smaller window.

Close any other IE windows.

"Grab" the corners of the window with your cursor and drag it to the desired
size (do NOT maximize it), then close the window.

The resized window MUST be the last window closed for its size to be
remembered.

Re: IE7 windows resizes after shutdown or reboot

Thanks PA Bear. I tried this and the same thing happens on reboot/shutdown.
I can change the size and placement on IE7 window and it will stay everytime
I re-close and re-open IE7...but if I reboot/shutdown it returns to a small
window.

Re: IE7 windows resizes after shutdown or reboot

One or more options/settings in an ever-growing number of third-party
applications may be disallowing the change(s) from "sticking". These include
but are not limited to Ad-aware's Ad-Watch, Spybot Tea Timer,
SpywareBlaster, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor, Norton AntiVirus, McAfee
VirusScan and/or Antispyware, and Zone Alarm (Free and Pro).

On the other hand, your homepage might be hard-coded to open in a smaller
window. If so, there's nothing you can do about that. Test this by
changing your homepage to blank ("Use Blank").

Re: IE7 windows resizes after shutdown or reboot

Thanks again PA Bear. I am betting it is my Norton Internet Security. I did
disable it for a 1 hour period, but that did not do the trick. Should I
uninstall to see if this is it or do you know of a way to disable the aspect
of NIS that may be causing this? I don't see any setting with respect to IE7.

Thanks for the help.

Re: IE7 windows resizes after shutdown or reboot

Simply disabling NIS might not be enough: When you do so, you're not
necessarily disabling all Norton Add-ons.

Did you try the above?

Please state your Windows version.
