The TAB Key Does Not Behave as Expected in a Web Page Form
Using Vista and IE 7. Have applied all updates for both. This behaviour only
on this laptop. Other computers do not exhibit the same behaviour. Are there any settings that I need to look for ? Thx -- Chitu |

Hi,
You don't tell us what exactly happens. What do you mean by "this behavior"? Kind regards Hans "CP" <CP@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:988B0B23-B340-4DAA-9E3D-ACB2A941E3EF@microsoft.com... > Using Vista and IE 7. Have applied all updates for both. Re: The TAB Key Does Not Behave as Expected in a Web Page Form
Expected behaviour is - on pressing the TAB key, cursor/focus moves to next
field on the page that may be take input - either a fill-in field or an action button like "OK", "Next". What is happening is that on pressing the TAB key, the focus/cursor justed vanishes, and I have to use the mouse pointer to get it back to where I want to input something, or press the action button. Does that give you any clues in helping me fix this thing? Thx -- Chitu "Hans Le Roy" wrote: > Hi, > > You don't tell us what exactly happens. This usually means that the cursor has jumped to something else that's clickable, a button or link or something. Press tab again. -- Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM www.fjsmjs.com Do not send email |

These days it can usually be attributed to web page construction. As Frank indicated use of Tab depends on where keyboard focus is when you start pressing it but as well it depends on what the context of the item that you are hoping to tab to has (e.g. as seen by View Source of the page you are using). Hence you may find that even when you start from a (doubleclicked) word near a link you can't reach the link because the text you are starting from doesn't have the same context. BTW please always repeat the details from your Subject text in the text of your problem description. Some people use search tools which only find things in either message area. It also makes your description harder to read. E.g. notice that there is not one mention of the word tab in your problem description text. That word appears only in your post's Subject. ; } HTH Robert Aldwinckle --- > Using Vista and IE 7. Have applied all updates for both. This behaviour only > on this laptop. Re: The TAB Key Does Not Behave as Expected in a Web Page Form
No,
The cursor /focus is lost. This is not on just one page/form ; I wish the answer were as simple as that!
