print problem: res://ieframe.dll/preview.dlg
Hi,
I've got a bright new PC running XP pro sp2 with IE7. When I try to print from IE I always get a res://ieframe.dll/preview.dlg error on line 1405. Of course I've googled. There's supposedly 2 common causes, a setting in IE, checked that, and reregistration of DLLs, checked that. I've also done a sfc /scannow and no luck. I've checked event logs, nothing. Other apps print (except OE but that's logical) Any thoughts? Jeroen Wijnands |

Re: print problem: res://ieframe.dll/preview.dlg
Thanks but like I mentioned in my initial post, I've tried that, it
registered ok but didn't affect the problem at all On Dec 18, 9:01 pm, "PA Bear" <PABear...@gmail.com> wrote: > Start > Run > (type in) regsvr32 ole32.dll > [OK] > -- > ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) > MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) > AumHa VSOP & Adminhttp://aumha.net > DTS-L.ORGhttp://66.39.69.143/ > > JeroenWijnandswrote: > > Hi, > > > I've got a bright new PC running XP pro sp2 withIE7. Re: print problem: res://ieframe.dll/preview.dlg
1. Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode? To start
IE7 in No Add-ons mode: Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons; or Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No add-ons). Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx 2. Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Settings (RIES)? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 <= Read before using! 3. If you uninstall (a) IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6), (b) all toolbars and (c) all third-party Windows Themes (including Window Blinds) and do NOT reinstall IE7, does this behavior persist? If it does, do NOT reinstall IE7. Uninstalling IE7 http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html How to uninstall Internet Explorer 7: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177 IE7 (Un)Installation and Anti-Malware Applications: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/200...lications.aspx 4. Required reading IMHO before reinstalling IE7: Sandi's Installation Tips <= FOLLOW THESE TIPS TO THE LETTER! http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install [And I strongly recommend using http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dow.../getitnow.mspx as the installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update.] Make *certain* that you check in at Windows Update immediately after reinstalling IE7 to install any critical updates offered. If Optional Updates category offers Root Certificates update, I recommend installing it to take full advantage of IE7's additional security. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L.ORG http://66.39.69.143/ Jeroen Wijnands wrote: > Thanks but like I mentioned in my initial post, I've tried that, it > registered ok but didn't affect the problem at all > > On Dec 18, 9:01 pm, "PA Bear" <PABear...@gmail.com> wrote: >> Start > Run > (type in) regsvr32 ole32.dll > [OK] >> -- >> ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) >> MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) >> AumHa VSOP & Adminhttp://aumha.net >> DTS-L.ORGhttp://66.39.69.143/ >> >> JeroenWijnandswrote: >>> Hi, >> >>> I've got a bright new PC running XP pro sp2 withIE7. Re: print problem: res://ieframe.dll/preview.dlg
I was able to fix the problem in two separate cases by disabling
protected mode on Internet Explorer 7. I know that this might not be the most security-minded solution to the problem, and maybe someone with a bit more IE knowledge could break it down further, but it seemed to work. Both cases I saw this error, they were both Windows Vista machines running Internet Explorer 7. In both cases, disabling the add-ons and restoring IE entirely from scratch did not seem to solve the problem at all. --- Chad Allard Network Specialist RE/MAX professionals http://op5.unixdaemons.com http://www.livinginwinnipeg.com |

Re: print problem: res://ieframe.dll/preview.dlg
OP is running WinXP, not Vista.
