Website's activeX will not load
This is one of my most frequented website,
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/?cc=4716 but there is a activeX application which runs the video function which refuses to load. Can anyone help me with this problem? I have tried everything from reloading IE 7 to reloading Adobe Flash. Before this, the problem could temporarily be sidestepped by deleting the temporary internet files. but subsequently, this no longer worked. It is no problem with the site because my wife's notebook and my office workstation has no problem loading the activeX. Can anyone kindly advice me if this is some sort of inherent problem with IE 7 or is it my settings? Thank you so much in advance to whoever that comes to my rescue. |

Presumably you can view Adobe Flash video at other sites like Youtube. Or can you? If yes, I would try these in no particular order. 1) Go to Tools > Manage Add-ons > Enable or Disable Add-ons. Is Shockwave Flash Object present and enabled? 2) Temporarily disable any firewall and anti-virus apps you are running. 3) Temporarily rename file HOST to HOSTS.SAV. The file (if you have one) is typically at WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc 4) Set all your security settings to default at Tools > Internet Options > Security (tab) |

Re: Website's activeX will not load
Hi Don,
I'm on a Win XP Media Center Edition Ver 2 SP 2. I have just done as suggested below; 1) use the uninstaller and then reload flash. 2) the "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer", I have tried both checked and unchecked. it wouldn't work at first until I deleted the "temporary internet files" but the problem subsequently returned. Is there any other settings i should look out for? Cheers and Merry Christmas, Stressed Out! Re: Website's activeX will not load
Hi,
Inline with Michael's suggestions (in this thread) turn on the Windows Firewall from Control Panel> Windows Firewall and disable any third-party firewall, security suite, other third party ad-blockers, etc. See if a third-party program is blocking Flash. If so, look through settings of that program for the feature that's blocking scripting, active content, etc. Don [MS MVP- IE] "Stressed Out!" <StressedOut@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8E60E15B-6DAD-4E76-A8C4-248DA8C39926@microsoft.com... > Hi Don, > > I'm on a Win XP Media Center Edition Ver 2 SP 2. > > I have just done as suggested below; > > 1) use the uninstaller and then reload flash. > 2) the "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer", I have tried > both checked and unchecked. > > it wouldn't work at first until I deleted the "temporary internet files" but > the problem subsequently returned. > > Is there any other settings i should look out for? > > Cheers and Merry Christmas, > Stressed Out! > "Don Varnau" wrote: > > > Hi, > > Windows XP or Vista? > > > > When you uninstalled / reinstalled Flash, did you run the uninstaller/ > > http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowled...fm?id=tn_14157 > > > > Try this setting both ways- checked and unchecked. > > Internet Options> Advanced> Security> check "Allow active content to run in > > files on My Computer ." > > "Stressed Out!" <Stressed Out!@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > > news:717E09D7-C7A8-43F5-A3AA-B0793FD10E4C@microsoft.com... > > > This is one of my most frequented website, > > > http://soccernet.espn.go.com/?cc=4716 but there is a activeX application > > > which runs the video function which refuses to load. > > > > > > Can anyone help me with this problem? Re: Website's activeX will not load
Hi Michael,
I have tried all your suggestions and initially I thougth it could be my panda antivirus. But even after disabling it, the problem came back. I'm kinda perplexed because how come each time i clear my "temporary internet files", it will function again and subsequently stop working. What could be the possible reasons? Re: Website's activeX will not load
Hi Don,
I have tried everything Micheal has suggested but still to no avail. Do you think I should give it a long shot and try reseting my IE7? I have already totally disabled my Panda Antivirus but the activeX still will not load. Worse still, I now encounter an "Error on page" when ever I come into the forum and am unable to read the respective postings. Cheers, More Stressed Out! Or are there others like YouTube.com? Are there any useful errors (or warnings) in Event Viewer that might shed some light on this issue? Go to Start > Run, then type eventvwr.msc Click OK I wonder if you created a second user account (with admin privileges) you would see the same problem. Note: You would rule out such things as corrupted user folders such as the TIF (Temporary Internet Files) and some of your IE settings would be reset to defaults. It might be instructive or could be a waste of time <smile>. |

Hi,
With the warning that your AutoComplete passwords will be deleted, a Reset of IE Settings is worth a try. Re: Website's activeX will not load
Hi Don,
After doing further trouble shooting, I haqve narrowed it down to a combined problem with IE 7 and my current Linksys wireless router firmware. The reasons being, 1) My work station at work works fine with the same site and it uses IE 7. 2) All the workstations and notebooks using IE 7 connected to the linksys router in my home cannot load that website's flash application except for my wife's notebook which still uses IE 6. 3) I have tried resetting IE 7 but to no avail. 4) I have connected a brand new notebook to the same linksys wireless router and after updating to IE 7, the site's flash does not load. 5) Not to mention that I have disabled all firewall within the linksys wireless router. Thus coming to the conclusion that there is a conflict between the linksys router's firmware and IE 7. Is that even remotely possible? Please help me back on the right track if I happen to be way off. Thanks. Cheers, Stressed Out!
