Error message ?

Is your neighbor aware that you are trying to use his wi fi connection?.
Has he agreed?

Is your neighbor's wi fi network security enabled? If so, do you know
the security password?

Is your neighbor's wireless router connected to the Internet?

Do the firewall settings on your computer permit wireless networking?

Do you have your neighbor's consent to use his or her wireless connection?
If not, you are stealing something of value from your neighbor and you are a
thief. If you have permission, have you entered the WEP or WPA numbers into
your software that would allow you to access it? Do you have the password to
your neighbors connection?

Keep in mind that if you do not have permission to use your neighbor's
connection it is very easy for him or her to determine that someone else is
using it.

Re: Internet Connection

My neighbour knows that we try to use his wi fi connection. I have 2 other
friends who is connecting with their laptops with the same wi fi connection.
Neighbor not gave any password. That is open. Not showing any error too.
Just not connecting once I enter site address as usual. I know if my
neighbor not enabled his wi fi my 2 friends will not get wi fi in their
laptops. As I told you they get connected. I am not getting. Neighbors' wi
fi security enabled. He did not give password.

One thing I am not sure that if firewall settings on my computer permits or
not. How can I know this? Please inform.

Insufficient information to attempt an accurate diagnosis.

If your computer has a separate switch, enable your wireless connection.
Then, please perform a few more tests - and report back with the
results.

1. Are you using Windows Firewall or a different type of firewall
(Zone Alarm, McAfee, Norton etc). To find out whether the firewall is
blocking Internet Access, disable the firewall temporarily. Then, try
to connect to a website (such as google). This is a purely a diagnostic
test, to check whether your firewall is causing problems. It is not a
permanent remedy and you should not open emails or try surfing without
firewall protection. If you are using a commercial firewall, you may
need to find out how to configure it to permit wireless networking
(check the user instructions and/or help files).

2. Open Control Panel and click on System / Hardware / Device
Manager. Go to Network adaptors. Expand the tree and check whether any
wireless adaptor is present and enabled. Right click on the wireless
connection and select "Properties". Is it enabled and working properly?

3a. Open Control Panel and click on "Network Connections". Does the
list of connections include "Wireless Network Connection"?
3b. If so, does it show as "connected"?
3c. Select "Wireless Network Connection" in the list of Network
Connections. Under Network Tasks (on the upper left hand side of the
page), click on "View available wireless networks". If your neighbor's
router is working, your computer should detect its presence and report
the status of the network.
3d. Select "Wireless Network Connection" in the list of Network
Connections. What are the details (IP address, etc) on the lower left
hand side of the page.
3e. Right click on the "Wireless Network Connection" and select
"Properties". Does the connection use the following items - Client for
Microsoft Networks; File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks; QoS
Packet Scheduler; and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Are there any other
items in the list?

4. Go to Command Prompt. (Start / All programs / Accessories /
Command prompt). In the window, type "ipconfig /all" (without the
inverted commas. Note the space between g and /). What are the entries
for the wireless network connection (IP address etc)?

RE: Internet Connection

Someone told me I did not install right wireless driver. Is it true?

Without details of:

a) the wireless hardware
b) the driver

I have no idea. So far, you have offered no evidence whatsoever that
your networking problem is caused by an incorrect driver - or by
Internet Explorer.

Have you checked any of the aspects listed in my earlier response? The
requested information from "Network Connections" and "Device Manager"
would have provided useful pointers -and would have helped to diagnose
faulty hardware or incorrect drivers.

If you unable or unwilling to undertake some self-help, you are wasting
everybody's time.

For instance, if the "View Available Networks" options detects your
neighbor's connection, then you are probably dealing with a software or
configuration issue. The solution might be no more than one click away
(i.e. Select the network and click on the connect option).

On the other hand, your will need to consider hardware and driver
issues, if wireless networking is absent from Device Manager and/or
"Network Connections".
