HI ALL, I WONDER IF THERE'S ANYONE THAT CAN HELP ME OUT HERE?
SANTA BROUGHT ME A NEW LAPTOP TODAY WITH VISTA HP INSTALLED. NOW, I
UPDATED WINDOZE AND NOW I CANNOT GET IE TO LOAD UP. I GET THE MUCH
MENTIONED NAVCANCL & IEFRAME.DLL SECURITY WARNING. I HAVE TRIED ALL THE
METHODS DESCRIBED THAT I HAVE FOUND ON'TINERNET INCLUDING THIS FORUM.
VERY INTERESTING AND HELPFULL BUT ALAS NO RESOLUTION. EVEN IE DOESN'T
START USING Run iexplore.exe -nohome -extoff I DID MANAGE TO INSTALL
FIREFOX BROWSER USING MY OTHER VISTA DESKTOP PC NETWORK CONNECTION SO I
THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS BYPASSED BUT I CANNOT EVEN INSTALL NORTON
INTERNET SECURITY AS THIS FLAGS UP SECURITY WARNINGS TOO. ANYONE GOT

If you use Vista and have a similar kinda issue of latest KB931768, which
cause IE7 stopped working with a popping up window, indicating some navcancl
& ieframe.dll related issue, you may follow my instruction to fix that. IMO,
this issue is caused by a non-default temporary internet files' folder.

0. Check my previous thread to see if you have the same issue as I had.

1.Maybe you need to change the folder options in control panel -> folder
options and turn off those hiding system & hidden files related settings.

2. Access control panel -> internet options -> general->history section->
settings, to see if your Temporary Internet Files folder is in its default
folder. The default folder should be like :
C:\Users\%USER_NAME%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windo ws\Temporary Internet
Files (default folder may vary in WindowsXP)

3. If it is not in a default folder format, change it to
C:\Users\%YOUR_USER_NAME%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\ Windows\. IE7 will
automatically copy the temp files to
C:\Users\%YOUR_USER_NAME%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\ Windows\Temporary Internet
Files by restarting windows.

4. Reapply the KB931768 patch ,if you have uninstalled it and turn on your
phishing filer. Restart IE7 to see if it works.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I have checked the TIF and it is in the
correct place. I have however taken the extreme step of completely
re-installing Vista as the machine was only taken out of the box today
I have lost nothing(except if you count the hours I've wasted on it
during today). Reinstalling Vista has solved the problem so far. I have
been able to install Norton internet security and open IE without fault
and the machine just "feels" better now.if you follow what i mean? When
i first switched on the machine out of the box several errors
occurred,can;t remember what they were now but I do wonder if they were
the start of my previous problems.BUT as it stands right now I have not
re-Activated Phishing filter nor have I re-installed any Windoze
updates yet and feel a little aprehensive in doing so.
Maybe i should consider NOT installing the KB931768 patch. This is a
very strange situation indeed as i have a Dell desktop PC running
VistaHP which was purchased earlier this year and that has the KB931768
patch installed and runs absolutely fine.(fingers crossed). I also very
surprised that MS have not yet issued a fix for this problem.

Hi,
The issue with KB931768 only affected users who had moved the Temporary
Internet Files folder, IIRC.

You might try installing updates in chronological order- 5 or 6 at a time
and critical updates only (this round) with a restart after 5 or 6.

There will also probably be unnecessary programs installed by the
manufacturer, loading at startup, which could be disabled.
