Hi,

I am running XP SP2 with IE 6 on a year old laptop (but same issue with IE
7). When I open IE and navigate away from the homepage IE opens multiple
windows, the point at whih this stops is when I run out of useable memory.
This has only happened over the last couple of weeks and any help that can be
offered will be gratefully accepted.

Multiple unrequested pop-ups is normally a sign of a spyware and/or virus
infection. Try running ad-aware
http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-200...bj=dl&tag=top5
and some antivirus software, and letting them clean whatever problems they
find.

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
