Phishing check
I recently installed IE7 on my wife's laptop and she complains it is running
extra slow. Apparently each site is checked by a phishing filter. Can this be turned off? -- Trevor Lawrence Canberra Microsoft MVP - FrontPage MVP Web Site http://trevorl.mvps.org |

Re: Phishing check
You can turn it off in the Tools menu, if you have another phishing
solution, but try this first: "The computer may respond very slowly as the Phishing Filter evaluates Web page contents in Internet Explorer 7" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928089/en-us --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est Trevor Lawrence wrote: > I recently installed IE7 on my wife's laptop and she complains it is running > extra slow. > > Apparently each site is checked by a phishing filter. > > Can this be turned off? |

Re: Phishing check
[If the machine's fully patched at Windows Update, 928089 is already
installed.] Leonard Grey wrote: > You can turn it off in the Tools menu, if you have another phishing > solution, but try this first: > > "The computer may respond very slowly as the Phishing Filter evaluates > Web page contents in Internet Explorer 7" > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928089/en-us > --- > Leonard Grey > Errare humanum est > > Trevor Lawrence wrote: >> I recently installed IE7 on my wife's laptop and she complains it is >> running extra slow. >> >> Apparently each site is checked by a phishing filter. >> >> Can this be turned off? |

Re: Phishing check
Are you running a security application that also includes Anti-Phishing
component (e.g. Norton or McAfee)? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Trevor Lawrence wrote: > I recently installed IE7 on my wife's laptop and she complains it is > running > extra slow. > > Apparently each site is checked by a phishing filter. > > Can this be turned off? |

She has gone out now for a few hours so I thought I would check the Updates, and just to annoy me, the computer can't connect to Windows Update - I don't know why, so I guess I give up on updates. Let's hope that it doesn't crash -- Trevor Lawrence Canberra |
