Can favorites be preserved if I reinstall IE&??
I would like to uninstall and reinstall my IE& on my XP-SP2 desktop. I would
like to find a clean easy way to accomplish this without destroying my between these two processes. Is this a possibility to be accomplished? Thanks in advance . . . Tom J. |

Re: Can favorites be preserved if I reinstall IE&??
Use
IE-File-Export and create a single HTML file for later use with IE-File-Import. What do you hope to achieve by "uninstall and reinstall" of IE6? It is far from a magic bullet. ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP Windows - Internet Explorer http://dts-l.com/index.htm On Thu, 27 Dec 2007 01:21:57 -0600, in microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general, "tjdarth" <tjdarth@verizon.net> wrote: >I would like to uninstall and reinstall my IE& on my XP-SP2 desktop. Re: Can favorites be preserved if I reinstall IE&??
Done properly, your Favorites should be preserved when uninstalling IE7 and
reinstalling it. 1. Uninstall IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6) per http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html 2a. Uninstall all toolbars and third-party Windows Themes (including Window Blinds). 2b. Disable all Norton Add-ons, if applicable. 3. Reinstall IE7 exactly per http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install, and using http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/default.mspx as the installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update. 4. IMMEDIATELY go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and install any critical updates offered. If a "Root Certificates" update is listed in the Optional category, you might install it, too, to take full advantage of IE7's additional security.
