Cookie Handling problem
Using IE7 and with IE6 in the past I have successfully gone to the privacy
tab and selected Override Automatic Cookie handling and set it to Override then block etc. It then configures my settings to Custom thereby severely restricting which cookies the machine will accept. Has always worked well. No matter what I do in IE7 ( with all available updates ) it always seems to eventually revert itself to the default settings and I wind up picking up all sorts of cookies I didn't wish to get. I believe I am properly setting it and hitting Apply, OK etc. yet it always changes itself. Any thoughts ? TIA. |

Re: Cookie Handling problem
One or more options/settings in an ever-growing number of third-party
applications may be disallowing the change(s) from "sticking". These include but are not limited to Ad-aware's Ad-Watch, Spybot Tea Timer, SpywareBlaster, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor, Norton AntiVirus, McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware, and Zone Alarm (Free and Pro). Here's something else about NAV that you may not be aware of: http://bertk.mvps.org/html/symantecdoc1.html -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Wonderman wrote: > Using IE7 and with IE6 in the past I have successfully gone to the privacy > tab and selected Override Automatic Cookie handling and set it to Override > then block etc. It then configures my settings to Custom thereby severely > restricting which cookies the machine will accept. Re: Cookie Handling problem
Most third party security applications (security suites, anti-virus
programs, anti-spyware programs, firewalls, ad-blockers, etc.) interact with Internet Explorer to protect your computer from malicious software. Check the settings in your security software to see if this is happening to you. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est Wonderman wrote: > Using IE7 and with IE6 in the past I have successfully gone to the > privacy tab and selected Override Automatic Cookie handling and set it > to Override then block etc. It then configures my settings to Custom > thereby severely restricting which cookies the machine will accept. Re: Cookie Handling problem
Makes sense. I'm using Windows Live One Care 2.0 and in reviewing the
settings it seems there isn't any obvious way to stop it from adjusting cookie handling. Maybe I'll give them a call and see if they have any ideas. Re: Cookie Handling problem
I don't think OneCare includes such protection but YMMV.
There are OneCare-specific newsgroups and web-forums where you can seek support and ask questions.
