C:\Users\Bob\My Documents\Favorites\Favorites
My Vista Home Premium/IE7 just surprised me by looking for the favorites file
in a new subdirectory. I have no clue how this came to be ..... but am looking for a way to tell IE to look in the original place C:\Users\Bob\My Documents\Favorites - Any clues? Bob |

Re: C:\Users\Bob\My Documents\Favorites\Favorites
Hi,
The default location would be C:\Users\Bob\Favorites If you browse to the current location of the Favorites folder and right-click the Favorites folder, choose Properties then Location, you should be able to move the Favorites to the default location. Hope this helps, Don [MS MVP- IE] "Ataraxy" <Ataraxy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:EABD11CD-C806-4E45-AB28-3BF71F5B89B7@microsoft.com... > My Vista Home Premium/IE7 just surprised me by looking for the favorites file > in a new subdirectory. Re: C:\Users\Bob\My Documents\Favorites\Favorites
Don
The issue is that the favorites are still in their original location (C:\Users\Bob\My Documents\Favorites). IE is now looking for them in a new directory (C:\Users\Bob\My Documents\Favorites\Favorites). I have seen this issue/question come up here before, but no real answer provided. I want to have IE look for in the opriginal direcotry, not the new subdirectory. I would also like to know how this might have happened?\ Bob "Don Varnau" wrote: > Hi, > The default location would be > C:\Users\Bob\Favorites > If you browse to the current location of the Favorites folder and > right-click the Favorites folder, choose Properties then Location, you > should be able to move the Favorites to the default location. > > Hope this helps, > Don > [MS MVP- IE] > > "Ataraxy" <Ataraxy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:EABD11CD-C806-4E45-AB28-3BF71F5B89B7@microsoft.com... > > My Vista Home Premium/IE7 just surprised me by looking for the favorites > file > > in a new subdirectory. Re: C:\Users\Bob\My Documents\Favorites\Favorites
Hi,
Are you familiar with REGEDIT? In this key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders] The String Value (right pane) "Favorites" should show the location of the Favorites folder. Does it show the correct location? That could have happened if you tried dragging a currently active folder to a new location (e.g. within an inactive folder also called Favorites.) --- > > Bob > > > "Don Varnau" wrote: > >> Hi, >> The default location would be >> C:\Users\Bob\Favorites >> If you browse to the current location of the Favorites folder and >> right-click the Favorites folder, choose Properties then Location, you >> should be able to move the Favorites to the default location. >> >> Hope this helps, >> Don >> [MS MVP- IE] >> >> "Ataraxy" <Ataraxy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:EABD11CD-C806-4E45-AB28-3BF71F5B89B7@microsoft.com... >> > My Vista Home Premium/IE7 just surprised me by looking for the favorites >> file >> > in a new subdirectory.
