IE7 Ctrl+Click issues
I installed IE7 several months ago and did not even realize this until
recently that clicking CTRL+Click won't open the link in a new tab. I'm not sure if this was because of a recent update or something else as I haven't used this pc for some time. I have Windows XP, IE7 v7.0.5730.13. Tabs are enabled; to the best of my understanding, so are shortcut keys. These work when I type CTRL+T (for new tab), etc. But CTRL+click just opens a new window to the maximum size of the desktop (but not 'maximized'). Plus, this is regardless of where I CTRL+click. That is, if I CTRL+Click on anywhere within an IE window, a new window appears that goes to my homepage. I have tried reseting IE settings as well as running IE without add-ons, but no luck. Another post says this might have something to do with an nvidia utility, but didn't say much more. Thought I'd put it out there that I do have nvidia (primarily to manage two monitors). Any help would be appreciated |

Re: IE7 Ctrl+Click issues
You may have a horked (dirty; bad; flawed) install of IE7 now for whatever
reason. I suggest that you... 1. Uninstall IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6) per http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html 2a. Uninstall all toolbars and third-party Windows Themes (including Window Blinds). 2b. Disable all Norton Add-ons, if applicable. 3. Reinstall IE7 exactly per http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install, and using http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/default.mspx as the installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update. 4. IMMEDIATELY go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and install any critical updates offered. If a "Root Certificates" update is listed in the Optional category, you might install it, too, to take full advantage of IE7's additional security. That's because I don't use nVidia and just report that another poster had found a solution for this symptom from that direction. Have you tried searching other posts for a more explicit explanation? Hint: very few posters use the Communities voting mechanisms so if the seminal thread occurred too long ago you would have to search using Google Groups. (It was over a year ago IIRC.) Otherwise you could try searching on nVidia forums. Etc. > > Any help would be appreciated Good luck Robert Aldwinckle --- |

Re: IE7 Ctrl+Click issues
Thanks. After some more extensive searching, and several mentions of nvidia
possibly causing this problem, I looked into my nvidia drivers and having updated those, I can now use Ctrl+click.
