IE7 crashing, can duplicate
XP SP2 all patches/updates installed IE 7
Multiple Users - same scenario. Use IE7 to Search Online INSPIRE Database to find book information. When user finds info and tries to switch to another App (Horizon 7.3), IE crashes. Only eventlog entry is: Event Type: Error Event Source: Application Error Event Category: None Event ID: 1000 Date: 12/28/2007 Time: 12:11:20 PM User: N/A Computer: CENRF402 Description: Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.6000.16574, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x04d345d0. No spyware/malware found. Tried IE7-WindowsXP-KB942615-x86-ENU.exe and WindowsXP-KB946627-x86-ENU.exe but neither resolved issue. Anyone have any ideas? |

Re: IE7 crashing, can duplicate
The Start IE7 in No Add-Ons mode did the trick. Now we just need to isolate
the add-on(s) causing the problem. As these are locked down and standardized machines experiencing these issues and they just started in the past couple of weeks (at least being reported to the helpdesk), I wonder which MS update had a role in this. But for now, we have a decent workaround. "PA Bear" wrote: > 1. Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode? Re: IE7 crashing, can duplicate
Before you blame a Windows Update, first cast your wary eye on any real-time
protection add-ons belonging to any security-related applications, Jay (i.e., anti-virus; anti-spyware; third-party firewall). Any of these may have led to a "dirty" or "horked" install of one or more updates. Please let us know what you discover. >>> Tried IE7-WindowsXP-KB942615-x86-ENU.exe and >>> WindowsXP-KB946627-x86-ENU.exe >>> but neither resolved issue. What does the above mean? Re: IE7 crashing, can duplicate
a. We only allow updates via WSUS server source except for test machines to
try new updates. b. Yes, all machines are fully updated/patched. c. No anti-spyware/third-party firewall software installed. only Symantec AV v10.x d. I am aware that 946627 was not for IE7, but I was grasping at straws and all the searches turned up only IE6 stuff... Still working on getting the Addon list at the facility identified and the process of elimination through trial and error to ID the culpript.
