Don't see the security letters/codes to enter for a site

I just got a new laptop with Vista installed and an really just starting to
use & set it up. I am trying to join a website but it has a security code to
enter to join, the type to prevent computer programs from joining up. I do
not see the code in the box. I imagine it is somthing in my internet security
settings but wondered if anyone has ideas to save me digging around.
Thanks

Re: Don't see the security letters/codes to enter for a site

And you're an experienced Vista user and fully understand UAC?

=> Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode? To start
IE7 in No Add-ons mode:

1. Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons;

2. Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer
(No add-ons).

Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode:

=> Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Settings (RIES)?

It's Ok I figured it out myself. The site was trying to open the code box
with Flash, so I tried installing Shockwave and it worked.

The point is that even if it is seen when you are using IE it is only a problem
with Vista so other Vista users are more likely to be able to help you.

E.g. if this is a .png file you can't see you may have to switch to using
an Administrator account for that...

http://www.microsoft.com/communities...ee4&sloc=en-us

(Community search for
png vista administrator
)

Apparently there is also a regedit solution of some kind for that symptom

http://www.microsoft.com/communities...6ff&sloc=en-us

(Community search for
vista png regedit
)

Good luck

Re: Don't see the security letters/codes to enter for a site

So the problem wasn't IE after all, eh?
