MSN Autos - Error
I have three computers: a homemade desktop, IBM ThinkPad, and Sony VAIO. All
of them have Windows XP (Home or Professional), are up-to-date, run Internet Explorer 7, and are protected by Symantec Antivirus and Client Firewall. The Sony is the only computer that I can open the http://autos.msn.com website. Both of the other computers retun an MSN Autos - Error webpage (whose text is included at the bottom of this post). None of the options work. I've run SpyBot, CCleaner, WireShark, and HiJackThis without any unusual results. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help, John S "Sorry, the page you're trying to reach is temporarily unavailable or the page may no longer exist. Please try one of the following: Click your browser's Refresh button to try reconnecting. Check the spelling of the URL to make sure the address is correct (capitalization and punctuation are important) and then click your browser's Refresh button. Click your browser's Back button to return to the previous page. Click here to go to the MSN Autos home page or use the site map below to find the page you are looking for." |

What happens if you click MSN Autos on the error message page?

Re: MSN Autos - Error
It reloads the same error page when I click any of the hyperlinks on the page.

Re: MSN Autos - Error
I just tried and had no problem. It opened at
http://autos.msn.com/Default.aspx. See what this address does for you. None of the options work. That could be a symptom of invalid URL being generated by scripting. Try temporarily setting Active Scripting to Prompt and then step through the prompts using either Yes or No to allow that page to run its scripts. Be very observant about what happens in all areas of the IE window each time--Status bar, Title bar, Address bar as well as display area. Another way to see what is happening would be to Run... Fiddler2 to trace the HTTP message flow. Since you have two cases, one which works and one which doesn't the traces could be useful at least by comparing them even if you don't know exactly what to look for in the one which is failing. > I've run > SpyBot, CCleaner, WireShark, Really? Re: MSN Autos - Error
Frank,
I removed and reloaded IE7 last night because of some huge errors I was having getting to My MSN. However, I did use your hyperlink to access MSN Autos and it worked like a charm: anecdotal though, because of the considerable changes in the operating environment. Re: MSN Autos - Error
Robert,
I wound up reloading IE7 last night because of some serious problems I was experiencing while trying to connect to My MSN. Everything appears to be working appropriately this morning. I really appreciate your advice and will likely return to it if I ever find myself in this predicament again. I didn't keep the logs for WireShark or HiJack this: I have a friend that manages LAN/WAN and forwarded them to him for review. He was unable to find anything interesting and posted them on several forums with no results. Thanks again, John "Robert Aldwinckle" wrote: > "JohnS" <JohnS@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:A0884353-57D6-434C-8CAE-D92136413CA6@microsoft.com... > >I have three computers: a homemade desktop, IBM ThinkPad, and Sony VAIO.
