Sending e-mail attachments for Word and Excel

Just installed Office pro 2007. When I try to "Send" document s as e-mail
attachments from within Excel and Word I get the following errors:
Excel-"Mail System Error. Check your mail installation."
Word-"Word couldn't send mail because of MAPI failure": "Unspecified error".

When I installed 2007 I had Office Pro 2000, and Outlook 2003. Should I
have uninstalled them first?
