MS office not in registry
I had to reload XP to fix a problem with my hard drive. All my Office files
are still on the hard drive, they are not in the "new" registry. I have not been able to find my key codes, so I can't reinstall Office. Is there anyway to fix this? |

Re: MS office not in registry
Yeah, not having an installation CD or product key are often problems
with pirate/illegal software downloaded from the internet. Daniel wrote: > I had to reload XP to fix a problem with my hard drive. Re: MS office not in registry
If I translate you correctly, you have not reloaded / repaired Winxp but
instead created a parallel installation. Either you need the Office cd & keys, or 'may' be able to resolve it by doing a proper repair installation of WinXP "Daniel" <Daniel@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:BA9E83DC-5CAD-43A2-AA73-5CB0CAA51A01@microsoft.com... >I had to reload XP to fix a problem with my hard drive. Re: MS office not in registry
Sometimes it is better to purchase a legal version of Office from a retailer to avoid this type of issue

You might be able to get things sorted out if you locate the EXE for one of the office apps, launch it and, if it works, go to Help, Detect and Repair and let that do its magic. That might be enough to re-register a legit copy. -- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ |

Re: MS office not in registry
This is a "legit copy" and I have found my key codes. I had to backup my
files to CD, format the hard drive (and decide to never load "iTunes" again), re-install my legal version of Xp and then re-Load my legal version of Office. That worked. Thanks for the faith in your fellow man! Like I would come to a Microsoft site with illegal copies. iTunes trashed my registry and instead of getting help here, I get nothing but ridicule. Thanks for nothing. "Steve Rindsberg" wrote: > In article <BA9E83DC-5CAD-43A2-AA73-5CB0CAA51A01@microsoft.com>, Daniel wrote: > > I had to reload XP to fix a problem with my hard drive. If it is, I'm sorry that you felt my reply ridiculed you; I'd like to know what part of my answer made you feel that way. > Thanks for nothing. > > > "Steve Rindsberg" wrote: > > > In article <BA9E83DC-5CAD-43A2-AA73-5CB0CAA51A01@microsoft.com>, Daniel wrote: > > > I had to reload XP to fix a problem with my hard drive.
