Difference Among Office Versions
I am considering transitioning from Corel WordPerfect Office 12 to Microsolft
Office 2007. Being a high school student who will soon be in college, I am somewhat uncertain as to what version of Office to buy. The only three applications I want are Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, so the Home and Student edition should be perfect for me right? It is the low price that worries me. I want to make sure that all of the program features that come with the Standard edition are also in the Home and Student edition. In other words, I don't want a run-down version of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I want full functionality. The low price makes it seem like certain features would be cut out of the Home/Student version. Is this true, or do all the versions contain the exact same programs, the only difference being that each package contains a different combination of programs? Thanks for your help, Eric |

Re: Difference Among Office Versions
All Office programs are the same irrespective of the Office suite.

Re: Difference Among Office Versions
You'll have the same features.
Just to be thorough, I'll mention that there are some features that only Office Professsional Plus, Enterprise, or Ultimate have (like advanced information rights management stuff). But Home and Student will have the same features that Office Professional, Standard, and Small Business have -- and those have almost all the same features that Professional Plus, Enterprise and Ultimate have. I think one of the biggest reasons for the low cost of Home and Student is that it cannot be upgraded. But don't worry -- you're not getting a watered-down edition. -- Echo [MS PPT MVP] http://www.echosvoice.com What's new in PowerPoint 2007? http://www.echosvoice.com/2007.htm (New!) Re: Difference Among Office Versions
Eric, Check out http://www.theultimatesteal.com/home.asp. Students can get Microsoft Ultimate for $59.99 (must have .edu email address). That's what I did, and it is all the Real Deal. If you don't want all the applications (there are a bunch), you can do a custom installation and not install them all. RE: Difference Among Office Versions
Thanks everyone for the helpful information. And, hats off to Kris for
letting me in on his little secret. The only problem is that I will have to wait until I am in college and have a .edu email address, by which time the offer might dissapear.
