Outlook 02 settings for sbcglobal.net mail
I am unable to send mail with Outlook 2002 through sbcglobal.net (ATT Yahoo),
but I can receive. ATT Yahoo tech support told me to call Microsoft to see about changing the SSL settings becasue they were conflicting with ATT mail servers. Does anyone have a solution for me? |

Re: Outlook 02 settings for sbcglobal.net mail
I, too, just switched over yesterday and am having the same problem. No one
at ATT seems to be able to solve his problem. KindDV, did you find a solution? Any help you could give would be great! Re: Outlook 02 settings for sbcglobal.net mail
Gordon,
You dont understand........ The settings that ATT told me to use do not work. They advised me to call Microsoft to have them help me change the SSL settings so they would not conflict, but no one seems to know what to change them to. I am trying to avoid paying 50.00 for a technical call. I assume someone else out there has this issue and has resolved it. I just need to know what to change the settings to so I can send mail. Re: Outlook 02 settings for sbcglobal.net mail
Kngdv:
I completely understand. I was up into the wee hours trying to fix this. It was still not fixed this morning. This seems to be a common glitch between Outlook and ATT. In all my frustration, I finally called a friend who is in the computer department at a local university to see if he had come up against this. I'm not sure if he's magic or what, but this is what fixed my problem. We again went over all the e-mail account settings that were given to me by ATT. Nothing was any different. He had me send the test e-mail that is on the e-mail account settings page. The first time I received an error but the second time I did not. He then had me delete anything sitting in my outbox. I then sent him a test e-mail to his e-mail address and it went. I swear he's magic but he says it's just ATT and Outlook don't get along. Try that. It DOES use SSL so they both have to be checked with 995 in the incoming and 465 in the outgoing. At any rate, it's finally fixed and I don't exactly know why. I'm pretty sure it wasn't on my end. If you want specific settings that I'm using, let me know and I'll go over those also. But try deleting stuff in your outbox first and sending something new. I hope you get this solved. It is maddening! And there is no reason on God's Earth you should have to spend $59 to fix something that wasn't broken before you switched over. Good luck! Re: Outlook 02 settings for sbcglobal.net mail
Amy,
I tried everything you said and it did not work. The test email from the email settings page did not go through either time. I deleted all the emails in my outbox and still nothing. Can you list the settings you are using please? Thanks "Amy" wrote: > Kngdv: > > I completely understand. I was up into the wee hours trying to fix this. > It was still not fixed this morning. Re: Outlook 02 settings for sbcglobal.net mail
Sure, I'll give you all the gory details.
Internet e-mail settings (POP3) Incoming mail server (POP3) pop.att.yahoo.com Outgoing mail servier (SMTP) smtp.att.yahoo.com Under Logon Information, your user name should be your complete email address. Complete e-mail address: i.e, tlubbock@sbcglobal.net with password in and remember password checked. NO CHECK in the log on using secure password authentication More settings: General tab: Mail Acct: pop.att.yahoo.com Outgoing Server tab: CHECK IN BOX My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication DOT IN radio button use same settings as my incoming mail server Connection tab: DOT IN Radio button connect using my local area network (LAN0 Advanced tab: Server port numbers: CHECKS IN both incoming server (POP3) This server requires an SSL-secured connection (995 in box) and outgoing server (SMTP) This server requires an SSL-secured connection (465 in box). My server timeout is set to 4 minutes I hope this helps. I know this just drives you crazy and the fact that ATT won't provide support for outlook is just infuriating.
