System doesn't always recognize licensed product-Office Prof2003

Hi,

I've briefly looked at the other posts and haven't found one that addresses
my specific issue.

I have a CD version of Office Professional 2003, I installed it on my system
mid 2005 (XP Operating on a brand new HP desktop). My hard drive crashed in
October 2006. I had a recovery performed, a new hard drive installed, and I
reinstalled my Office Pof 2003. My problem is, only SOMETIMES does it
recognize that the product is already installed/licensed. Sometimes I try to
launch documents by going in through the Word or Excel icon and it works
fine, other times I get the "set up" screen that asks for my name, initials,
and product key. When I enter the key that is on my CD case it says not
valid, although I did not have any trouble reinstalling last fall. Sometimes
when I am downloading docs from emails I have the same issue - sometimes it
works perfectly and sometimes it acts like it does not recognize the fact
that it's already licensed to me. When the documents do open, yes it does
show my name and prod key, other times not. I have a screen print of the
sign up screen, too.

Has anyone else had this? I thought I had already reinstalled the product;
and I've already checked for patches, service packs, etc. and there is
nothing out there that I'm missing. Any thoughts or guidance? Thanks.

Go through your add and remove program list one more time.

Major manufactures put office trial version in the restore disc which
has to be removed manually so u need to check it add and remove program
and uninstall it and then install the office Pro 2003 from the cds u
got.

Also once u install it.you hav to activate the product .always go for
the telephone activation as the internet activation fails most of the
time.
