Re: Outlook 2003 process does not close
Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click either the X or Exit:
1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle. 2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their support for an alleged fix. 3. Franklin-Covey Plan Plus! 4. COM Add-ins. 5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background to check for new mail and fire reminders. 6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing mail. 7. Skype - check for a new version 8. Re: Outlook 2003 process does not close
Hi Milly,
Thanks for the summary, but it would be great to know how to FIX it, not just why it might happen. Any steps to follow to resolve the matter? In my instance, I have Plan Plus v5 for Outlook, and Symantec AV CE, v10.0.1.1000. Often, when closing Outlook, the taskbar closes, the Outlook icon is gone from the system tray, and the process (OUTLOOK.EXE) remains open. Also, regularly the Reminders window from Outlook will remain open. Thanks for your help. -Cody On Jan 16, 5:24 pm, "Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]" <millysdonteventhinkaboutmailin...@mvps.org> wrote: > Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click either the X or Exit: > > 1. Re: Outlook 2003 process does not close
It is a problem with how the offending software is written that keeps Outlook open. It is not an Outlook issue per se, but how the other programs release (or in this case) do not release Outlook to close.
