Please advise if this is not the correct group

All of a sudden I am unable to write (paste) documents to CD. The CD Writing
Wizard wants me to:
"Insert a writable disc to continue".
The message also says that:
"There is no disc in the drive.
Please insert a writable CD into drive E:\.
Note: A writable CD is a compact disc that can be converted to a
conventional or audio CD by a CD recording drive (CD-R or CD-RW). After
being recorded, the CD is capable of being used in any computer CD-ROM drive
or audio CD player."

I am using CD-RW discs and never encountered this problem before. In fact I
copied/pasted (wrote) documents many times before to this particular disc.
Maybe I inadvertently did something causing this sudden change of behavior.
Is there somewhere a configuration menu where I could check on settings to
enable anew the CD writing function?

Sorry for not providing sufficient information.
My operating system is WinXP SP2 and I am using the build-in CD writing
facility. I've been using the build-in CD writing facility exclusively for
many years, never had any need for using 3rd party software.
So, the error message as stated in my original post was created while I was
attempting to use the build-in CD writing facility.
I may have inadvertently caused this problem. And since I don't use the CD
writing facility on a regular basis I would not know where to look for
rectifying the problem. Unfortunately I flushed System Restore the other
day, so this option can be discounted.
Would you please advise a fix as how to re-instate the Windows built-in CD
writing function.

Indeed, although these articles did not fix the problem they directed my to

It turned out that the problem was easily fixed :-) For inexplicable
reasons the check-box beside 'Enable CD recording on this drive' wasn't
checked. I don't know how this could've happen...
