Need Help Managing Online Updates
In Money Plus I can't figure out how to set up my Janus accounts using
"manage online services". I have 3 Janus accounts which have about 10 different investments. During the set-up, Janus comes back with the 10 investment numbers and asks me to match them up with my 3 accounts. It won't let me use an account more than once so I cannot match all 10. The root problem seems to be that Money expects to see account numbers, but Janus transmits the individual investment numbers. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or how to work around this? Thanks. |

You are not doing anything wrong, but you are not doing things the same as the Janus downloads. What they appear to have done is to send each fund as if it were a unique account. Money does not have a mechanism to route two or more downloaded "accounts" to a single account. Vanguard used to have things set up that way -- with each fund considered a different account. That paradigm is workable, but its a little strange IMO. So the deal would appear to be to let Money create the ten accounts, or don't download from Janus. It appeared that you maybe have 3 of the funds download to the three accounts, but to not have Money download for the other seven; enter them by hand. I suggest you be prepared to File->Restore a backup before experimenting with this. Money 2006, 2007, and Plus keep the most recent 4 backups by default. I would increase that if you have plenty of disk space. |
