M2004 and Earlier Users - Now What?

I have M2002. I see the posts to eliminate Passport password, so I will do
that before 7/31.

Should we keep our old versions or switch to the latest version of software?
I have hundreds of hours of data entries I don't want to lose, and would
like to use well into the future. From the server my only use is to get
current stock prices. I assume this will no longer work for M2002 after
7/31 with the password disabled. When I download my purchases from those
web sites and import, those will by default give me those purchase prices
for those funds. I guess I never really need to upgrade. Any suggestions
as to whether to upgrade or stick to the current version? If I upgrade,
what version should I get?

There is no one good answer. Do you depend on Passport/WinLiveID?

See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=174 for some related thoughts. My
recommendation would generally be to move to M+ if you want to extend your
supportability/online services. Even that's no sure thing, but it's closer.

See also http://umpmfaq.info/MoneyPlus.htm for some other thoughts.

I not sure exactly what the 7/31 deadline means. AFAIK, Microsoft has
said only that online bank access will cease because it depends on
Passport ... to my knowledge nothing has been said about stock quotes
and news.

I would say ride it until it stops working. I jumped directly from
Money 98 to 2004. I can't promise that 2004 will also work 6 years,
but I certainly wouldn't do anything until it breaks.

I'm still using M2002 without Passport (and have never used one). I
still receive quotes & downloads from my bank, so I don't expect that to
change simply because of Passport support going away. Vanguard and my
Chase credit card stopped working a year or so ago, but I just download
and import statements from their websites.
