RE: Transfer MM to laptop
The retail licenses--you said Premium so I'm assuming--allow installation on
both a desktop and a laptop machine. That's not to say that they solve problems assoicated with moving the file back and forth. M06 should work fine with Vista. Do you have the installation CD? If you bought the disk, just install. Below I have added some Vista considerations. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889930/ should have some info. If you can download the trial, note where it says ================================================== If you have to reinstall Money 2006 by using the following MSN Web site, you must change the date [on your computer] to 12/31/2006: https://billing.msn.com ================================================== ============= So then you can create an empty file and put the same LiveID that you used when you bought Money. Money should then convert from the Trial to the regular version. ===============Vista considerations============================== Be sure that your Money and backup files are moved to a spot that you will have full privileges to, such as Documents/MyDocuments. If they are in a place like ProgramFiles, Vista will create an impermanent copy of the file for the user to use, unless the user explicitly right-clicks at launch and choose RunAsAdministrator that time. Right-click the Money icon and choose RunAsAdministrator to let updates happen. Then reboot the computer. Also change your backup path from "C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\" to "C:\Users\username\Documents\" |
