Issue with Stock Option Prices Updates
Whenever Money updates my Stock Option prices they are incorect. They show
the option price as 10 times what it acutally is. I then have to go into the Update Prices section and delete the downloaded value since it causes my portfolio to have the incorrect value. I'm not sure but this may only occur when I do an update after market hours. I would like to report this to Microsoft but they seem to want to charge me for a support call which is stupid since it is clearly an issue with their online services and not me or my computer. Does anyone know how to report an bug to microsoft with out them charging you for doing so? I'm about fed up with this stupid program that the keep making you re-buy each year and they never fix a single thing. Lucky for them their isn't an easy way to migrate to another program without having to setup all your accounts again. |

RE: Issue with Stock Option Prices Updates
CORRECTION: It is 100 times not 10 times the actual price.
Example: ..MSQBZ Closed on 1-25-08 at $1.30 In the UPDATE Price section it shows an entry on 1-25-08 $1.300 with a source of Online. Then on 1-26-08 when I connected to download transaction and new entry appears in there as 1-26-08 $130.000 with a source of Update. That is 100 times the correct value. I have to go in here and delete each of these erroneous updates since they cause my portfolio value to be much higher than it truly is. You don't say what program are you using. Suppose you are selling 10 covered calls. If you define the option as an Equity Option, enter a "Sell to Open" transaction for 10 contracts. Note that a quirk prevents you from being able to change the symbol for a security that has been defined as an Equity Option. Thus you might want to name the option "DOW 30 Jan Call" rather than "DOW 30 Jan 04 Call". Expire will be a native type for the options. If you have an older version, Equity Option would not be a choice. In that case, if you define the option as a Stock, enter a "Short Sell" transaction for 1000` shares. You will be able to change the symbol later if you like. To expire the option, enter a Cover Short for $0. Note that for quotes download, the symbol must start with a period. For example, .DOWAF is the symbol for Dow Call Jan $30. If you are entering the prices manually, you can leave the symbol blank. > >"netoguy" wrote: > >> Whenever Money updates my Stock Option prices they are incorect. Re: Issue with Stock Option Prices Updates
It is Microsoft Money Plus Home and Business v17.0.150.727
Which I believe is Money 2008, but since Microsoft can't seem to stick with the same naming convention for more than a few years I'm not sure. As for the other comments, The symbol is entered correctly, I am opening the postitions with Buy to Open with the proper # of contracts. The price updates properly sometimes, but when the markets are closed and I do an update the price it brings in is multiplied by 100. Example...True option price is $1.30 per contract, MS Money will download $130.00 per contract. Obviously a bug in the service they use for the stock price updates. This seems like a very evident bug that other users should be experiencing also..??? But I sure am not going to pay hundreds of dollars to call MS tech support and spend hours of time talking to someone who hardly speaks english and doesn't even know what the heck a Stock Option just for them to tell me I need to reformat my computer and reinstall everything, which has nothing to do with the problem.
