picture size + pasting problem
I have OE 6 and IE 7
1) With previous versions I could copy and paste images from one email to another but can’t do that anymore. 2) I could also copy a Word text with images and paste them in an email but now only the text and the ghost picture frame appears. 3) Inserting a picture from the “insert” menu of Outlook Express sometimes inserts the picture in its original size but other times it randomly decides to enlarge the picture. Even when printing the email the pictures are way over their original size. Any fixes would be appreciated. |

Re: picture size + pasting problem
From the somewhat illegible print, I can see you created this post in Word
and then pasted it here. Copy and pasting graphics into a new message will almost always result in a rectangle with a red X in it. How you got away with it before, I have no idea. Save the images to your HDD and the Insert them in the new message where you want. Resize them before you do. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Rob" <Rob@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9AF7D35F-9109-4EA1-B396-A7C38F957719@microsoft.com... >I have OE 6 and IE 7 > > 1) With previous versions I could copy and paste images from one email to > another but can?Tt do that anymore. > > 2) I could also copy a Word text with images and paste them in an email > but > now only the text and the ghost picture frame appears. > > 3) Inserting a picture from the ?oinsert? menu of Outlook Express > sometimes > inserts the picture in its original size but other times it randomly > decides > to enlarge the picture. Re: picture size + pasting problem
A1. Are you composing the message in Word? If not, are you composing the
New Message in HTML format [in which case you should (a) save the image to your HDD and then (b) Insert it]. A2. See above. Is Word part of Office 2003 and is SP3 installed yet? A3. Insert will use the size of the image selected by default. If you use the right-click | Send To | Email recipient option in My Pictures folder, Windows will offer an option to resize the image. To avoid such problems: 1. Compose emails on OE, not Word. 2. Do not copy/paste images into an email, use Insert instead. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Rob wrote: > I have OE 6 and IE 7 > > 1) With previous versions I could copy and paste images from one email to > another but can’t do that anymore. > > 2) I could also copy a Word text with images and paste them in an email > but > now only the text and the ghost picture frame appears. > > 3) Inserting a picture from the “insert” menu of Outlook Express > sometimes inserts the picture in its original size but other times it > randomly decides to enlarge the picture. Re: picture size + pasting problem
Loosing graphics pasting from Word 2007 into OE 6 is only one of my problems
(question 2) which did not occur in previous versions. Anyhow I already have been doing what you suggest by inserting the picture from the HDD into the message. As I already said by doing that the picture randomly changes size (that was my question 3). That also did not occur with any previous versions. Thanks anyhow "Bruce Hagen" wrote: > From the somewhat illegible print, I can see you created this post in Word > and then pasted it here. > > Copy and pasting graphics into a new message will almost always result in a > rectangle with a red X in it. Re: picture size + pasting problem
Sorry, they were 3 different questions:
1) In case 1 I was not composing in Word but just trying to copy an image from one email to another (OE 6). This could easily be done in previous versions right clicking Copy then Paste, without the complication of saving to the HDD first. 2) No I am using Office 2007 (SP 1) 3) No, as I said insert does not always insert the image in its original size but occasionally resizes it. That was my question: how to avoid that random enlarging The point of composing in Word is to use the many functions that OE is missing (spelling corrector, thesaurus, formatting, languages, etc, etc…) Suggesting to compose directly in OE means renouncing all that and is not a solution. As said Insert changes the size of the image. "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote: > A1. Are you composing the message in Word? Re: picture size + pasting problem
You should try Windows Live Mail.
It corrects spelling as you type. Each inserted picture can be sized with text below the picture. http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview Note: you can only install and use for email. I have 3 pop accounts and do not use Messenger or sign in to Windows Live. You can run WLM and OE at the same time. WLM will remove the shortcuts to OE. I use Start, Run, msimn when I want to short OE or you could create a new shortcut. Copying pictures from one email to another requires saving the picture to the hard drive when the picture was not attached to the email. -- Ronald Sommer "Rob" <Rob@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news 8F08B9C-7810-4563-A9D9-0A3BC7F3430B@microsoft.com...> Sorry, they were 3 different questions: > > 1) In case 1 I was not composing in Word but just trying to copy an image > from one email to another (OE 6). Re: picture size + pasting problem
I have no problem doing #1, but the images never show up in the received
message. #3 never happens here. Perhaps you should use OL as your default Mail Client, Rob? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Rob wrote: > Sorry, they were 3 different questions: > > 1) In case 1 I was not composing in Word but just trying to copy an image > from one email to another (OE 6). Re: picture size + pasting problem
I suppose it is a problem only on my computer which occured after upgrading
to Word 2007 and OE 6. I'll have to live with it unless someone comes up with some other trick. Thanks for your time and care. You upgraded to Word 2007 and OE6 or you upgraded to Word 2007 and (the
problem only occurs in) OE6? Re: picture size + pasting problem
I had Word 2002 which was included in the Italian Works Suite package 2003 and then to OE 6, though not completely sure of the sequence. Then I upgraded to Office 2007 Home/Student Italian version. Could that be relevant?
