Outlook Express is sending out blank emails again
This is from a brand new fresh installation of Windows from
a reformatted hard-drive on a completely different computer. Everything in my system works, except outlook express sends out blank emails. The emails in the Sent Items folder are not blank. I even tried re-installing Outlook Express from the original system disk, still blank emails. Since web-mail works, it must be an Outlook Express problem rather than a web server problem. I would much rather spend several hours fixing everything that it could possibly be, rather than two days carefully diagnosing what it actually is because a have a few hours before my trip, and I do not have a few days. What single solution would fix whatever it could possibly be? |

If you send yourself a message, is it blank?
Here's your earlier thread (which you posted in OL General, not OE General): http://groups.google.com/group/micro...c74f3679b225bf -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Peter Olcott wrote: > This is from a brand new fresh installation of Windows from > a reformatted hard-drive on a completely different computer. > Everything in my system works, except outlook express sends > out blank emails. Same problem on a differnt computer with a brand new copy of
Windows XP on a re-formatted drive. None of the suggestions worked. Re: Outlook Express is sending out blank emails again
OE is sending fine if you can see the message in Sent Items, and in Webmail.
The problem is in viewing what you receive. This is happening on two completely separate machines? Does this happen if sending in Plain Text as well as HTML? Does this happen if Reading in Plain Text as well as HTML? What anti-virus program do you use and is it the same on both machines? Please answer the above, and also do the following. 1. Go to Start | Run and type regsvr32 inetcomm.dll and press "Enter" 2. Go to Tools | Options | Read | Fonts and set Western (ISO) as the default. 3. Clear Temporary Internet Files and the Temp folder. 4. Turn off email scanning in your anti-virus. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Peter Olcott" <NoSpam@SeeScreen.com> wrote in message news:13qsa3u7r2qoja4@news.supernews.com... > This is from a brand new fresh installation of Windows from a reformatted > hard-drive on a completely different computer. Re: Outlook Express is sending out blank emails again
What does this mean exactly? What did you do to make it work?
<QP> I can't test this now because I went to an earlier backup that is working, at least for the moment. </QP> You /can/ turn off e-mail scanning, even if it is working right now. That you are using McAfee, an AV program that is not compatible with OE, is bad enough. If e-mail scanning is enabled, it is a double edged sword. My best guess right now is that McAfee is the cause. I would remove it completely and use a program that is compatible with OE. To turn off e-mail scanning in McAfee: http://www.vcn.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=437 McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocumen... type=TS&ia=1 I would suggest either Avast, (freeware), or NOD32, (not free). In the case of Avast, choose Custom Installation and under Resident Protection, uncheck: Internet Mail and Outlook/Exchange. Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html NOD32: http://www.eset.com/ -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Peter Olcott" <NoSpam@SeeScreen.com> wrote in message news:13qsr3qafnoer57@news.supernews.com... > > "Bruce Hagen" <Nospam@mymail.invalid> wrote in message > news:uiZnww4aIHA.1208@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >> OE is sending fine if you can see the message in Sent Items, and in >> Webmail.
