Outlook express 6 error message
Hi all,
I have mellinium edition, outlook express 6. When I open up outlook express or press send/receive I get the following error when I go to download emails from the server to my inbox: An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'mail.cableone.net', Server: 'mail.cableone.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800C0131 Also when this occurs, my inbox is blank with none of my emails in it. Occasionally, rarely, I can receive my emails from the server and my inbox emails are there. But the next time I try to open outlook express, I get the same error message again and the inbox is blank. If anybody has a solution to this, it would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Outlook express 6 error message
Start by compacting your folders.
Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed. If that does not resolve the problem, Folders.dbx is probably corrupt. See this first. Consequences of deleting Folders.dbx: http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#deldbx To create a new Folders.dbx file, first close OE. Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer or, copy and paste it into Start | Run. In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View. A new Folders.dbx file will be created when you open OE and the problem should be resolved. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Roy" <Roy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:07971750-0819-4B0D-AED3-6DC61A6984CC@microsoft.com... > Hi all, > I have mellinium edition, outlook express 6. See this article for the fix but make certain OE is closed before deleting Folders.dbx. http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/probl...htm#foldersdbx -- Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM Do not reply with email |
